Fall foliage is going to peak soon, and if you know when to grab the camera and capture the leaves changing colors, you'll be the autumn champion of social media.

The fall foliage prediction map is out, and it gives us the best times and places to truly soak up fall.

The interactive Fall Foliage Prediction Map lets you move the meter by calendar date, and shows which dates have the most leaves changing from green to orange, before they turn ick brown and fall off.  So if you're looking for some great backgrounds for your engagement and wedding photos and family shots, hit the map before you go.

This weekend (September 16 and 17), the Treasure Valley is in a section labeled "partial" and "near peak."  So we'll have to wait a few more days for the leaves to figure out that summer is really gone and it's okay to get about the business of turning orange and making us want to grab a sweater and some pumpkin spice drinks for real.  It's looking like the leaves will be at peak beauty in the Treasure Valley around September 24th, according to the website Only In Your State.

They tell us places like Boise and Sun Valley in central Idaho are just about a week and a half away from prime leaf viewing time, and places in southeastern Idaho like Soda Springs, Pocatello, and Preston won't be far behind.

The leaves are turning and the weather will be cooler this weekend...FINALLY!  It's looking like fall is here to stay.
