These 10 Places Were Just Named the Best Small Towns in Idaho
If there's one thing that Idaho has a lot of, it's small towns. We've introduced you to a handful with names that make us giggle, populations so small that you've likely never heard of them and some that you just want to stay away from.
But which small towns are the best of the best in Idaho? Infotainment site "RoadSnacks" decided to crunch some numbers and find out. Quite frankly, we're kind of stunned that somewhere as beautiful as McCall or as quirky as Wallace didn't make this list. How did they get left out?
Probably because RoadSnacks didn't look at things that we enjoy about small towns like proximity to a lake, the number of locally owned restaurants, the history of the town or events that took place there.
Their list was based on numerical data. RoadSnacks pulled information from the FBI Crime database and American Census Bureau for Idaho towns and "census-designated places" with populations under 5,000. The factors they included were population density, unemployment rate, housing costs, adjusted median income, education and high crime. They claim their list is unbiased and asked readers to "not shoot the messenger."
Here's how their list shook out. We don't think it's anywhere near accurate, mostly because some of these places are barely towns at all.
