Old Chicago Makes Miracle on Idaho Street in Downtown Boise a Reality [VIDEO]
One of the best parts of going to watch NFL football at Old Chicago over the last few months has been sharing our stories about Christmas Wish with our friends who were preparing to do something just as awesome on Christmas Day.
It's no secret that Old Chicago has become my second home in Downtown Boise. After all, few bars in Idaho are willing to show a losing football team's games week after week even for two of their favorite regulars. My Cleveland Browns are awful, but every Sunday, they've got the game waiting for my fiance and I. In fact their general manager Brent, #2 Marty and the entire bar staff helped Nate plan my engagement (unbeknownst to me.) We'll be celebrating our rehearsal dinner with them in August since they're basically family.
When we put a bow on Miracle Marathon Day for Christmas Wish, I went to OC for dinner on Wednesday afternoon and got to hear all about how they were gearing up for "Miracle on Idaho Street." It's a tradition they've had for 15 years.
Every Christmas, OC opens their doors to the homeless and hungry in the Treasure Valley for a warm Christmas meal. They even bring Santa in to visit with the kids who's families consider Old Chicago the only place that really feels like "home" on Christmas Day. Close to 1,000 people come through the doors on Christmas Day.
Our normal OC team has the day off, so the Christmas dinner is served up by dozens of big hearted volunteers from across the Treasure Valley.
I had to make a quick trip home to Ohio for Christmas, but I'm so glad our friend from KTVB, Joe Parris had a chance to stop in and see what our friend Brent and his team put together! Check out his Christmas tale of an "Old Chicago Christmas" in Joe's video!
