If Wicked has been your favorite Broadway musical for as long as you can remember, you're probably freaking out over the news that broke this weekend!

Rumors of a major motion picture version of the untold story of the witches of Oz have been floating around for years. Many expected it to arrive on the big screen this year, but Universal shelved the project in favor of releasing a movie version of Cats starring Taylor Swift, Idris Elba, Jennifer Hudson and James Corden. It arrives in theater this December.

When NBC aired their A Very Wicked Halloween: Celebrating 15 Years on Broadway special in 2018, fans raised an eyebrow and wondered if it was a sign that the movie project wasn't dead in the water. This weekend, Universal confirmed that it was.  Wicked the movie is officially scheduled for release on December 22...2021!
