Idaho Gives is a Chance to Positively Impact Our Home Today
Today, we have a great chance to make a difference across the state of Idaho and an impact to be felt even further. It's Idaho Gives day, where you can support amazing non-profits.
This is the largest single day of charitable giving int he state of Idaho, with more than 700 nonprofits throughout the state being represented and raising funds at IdahoGives.org. It goes throughout the entire day.
To give, either visit IdahoGives.org, or click on the name of a few organizations that are close to our hearts here at the station:
The Idaho Foodbank helps fight poverty and hunger in various ways every day across our community. They have programs to help families, and focus on the immediate nutrition needs of our kids. We have been proud to team with them for the Backpack Buddy program, that sends backpacks with needed food items home with kids for the weekend during the school year.
Girls on the Run of the Treasure Valley is a non-competitive running program for girls in 3rd through 5th grades. It's been going for 17 years here in the Valley, and was started to encourage and help girls lead more active lives and make positive choices. A recent study found that Girls on the Run participants spent 1 hour less time each week in front of a screen, and over 1 hour more each week outside playing. There is also a matching challenge from a generous donor, who will match every dollar raised during IdahoGIves.
Boise Bicycle Project focuses on youth, education, and our community through the donation of bikes to Treasure Valley children. So far, over 5000 have been donated. For most of the kids impacted, they are receiving their first bike. They also operate Kid Fix-It Nights to help take care of their bikes and offer Mobile Bike Repair.
