It's just numbers, right?  How hard can it be to win the Powerball?   Well, your odds of dying from a bee, wasp, or hornet sting are better actually. What else will get you before you win the Powerball?

Time Magazine broke it down like this.  Your odds are higher of having success in several ways other than winning the Powerball.

Don't tell Kate McGwire!  She's determined to win.

Odds of these things happening are higher than the odds of a Powerball win.

Dying from an asteroid strike: 1 in 74,817,414

Getting murdered during a trip to the Grand Canyon: 1 in 8,156,000

Dying from chronic constipation: 1 in 2,215,900

Getting struck by lightning: 1 in 1,101,000

Dying from a hornet, wasp or bee sting: 1 in 79,842

Bowling a 300 game: 1 in 11,500

The odds of winning the Powerball jackpot tomorrow night are 1 in 292 million by the way, according to USA Today.

Just a little something to think about while you pass the hat at the office today and take up that Powerball collection.  Somebody has to win eventually, and we do hope it's a group of hard-working, deserving folks like yourselves.  A group win is better than all of that loot going to one person anyway.

If the office is deserted on Monday, we'll know you're on the beach somewhere enjoying your winnings.  Good luck!  And may you always avoid chronic constipation.
