Anyone else have a pair of ice skates packed in their trunk year round? If you do, this weekend is your first chance to lace them up and hit the ice at The Village at Meridian!

The skating rink in The Village at Meridian opens for the season this Saturday! The rink will be open daily through January 31, weather permitting.

Want to show off your Tara Lipinski or Johnny Weir skills? Admission is $5 for kids 12 and under and $7 for adults. That price does include skate rental if you don't have a pair just laying around in your car like I do. (In my defense, I bought these when I accidentally signed up for a figure skating class in college. It was a gym credit, so I just assumed that we'd be skating ovals around the rink for an hour and a half for fitness. Nope. I was so wrong! By the end of the semester, I'd learned how to jump. Not well, but I could jump.)

Of course, things will be a little different rink this year. Per CDC guidelines, the Village is limiting the number to skaters on the ice to a maximum of 22 guests at a time. To control that number, they're moving to a reservation based system for this season. Each reservation gets you a wristband for 30 minutes of skate time. Upon arrival, guests will text the phone number at the shack with the name of their party, time reserved and the skate sizes they need and get back a confirmation that they're good to go.

The Village village has a pretty extensive COVID safety plan that includes their staff wearing masks, wiping down common touch points and disinfecting skates between guests. You can read more about it HERE.
