Nostalgic Boise Area Drive-In Theater Finally Has a 2022 Opening Date
Drive-In season in Caldwell has been in full swing at Terrace Drive-In since mid-March. Their March 18 opening marked one of the earliest openings the theater has had in recent years.
After the announcement, people started wondering when the region's other drive-in theater would open. Parma Motor-Vu's website and Facebook page both read "Open April-October," but didn't list an exact date. We promised to update you with the opening date when we had it and now we do!
Parma Motor-Vu announced in their Facebook group that their first weekend of the season is happening this weekend, April 15-17. Opening weekend will include a double feature of Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore and The Batman on Friday and Saturday. The movies begin at 8:50 p.m. and 11:15 p.m. respectively. Gates open at 7:45 p.m. Sunday will be a single screening of Fantastic Beasts at 8:50.
You can find the nostalgic drive-in at 29522 US 95 in Parma. Ticket prices vary:
- Kids 3 and under: Free
- Kids 4-11: $4
- Adults 12-61: $9
- Seniors 62+: $8
As we mentioned, Terrace Drive-In is also open for the season. They'll be showing Morbius and The Lost City this weekend.
We're also keeping an eye on news from the Mitchell Industrial Park in Emmett. They have a drive-in movie screen that goes by the name "Frontier Drive-In." It quietly opened in 2020, but doesn't operate on a regular schedule like Terrace and Parma Motor-Vu.
Throughout the Treasure Valley's history, there have been at least 11 different drive-ins in our area including four in Boise, two in Meridian, two in Nampa, two in Caldwell, and one in Parma. Of those 11, only Terrace Drive-In and Parma Motor-Vu have stood the test of time.
