A LITE-FM Christmas Wish for Jenny

LITE-FM's Christmas Wish is back, thanks to our friends at Pioneer Federal Credit Union.

Every single Christmas Wish nomination that we receives leaves a footprint on our hearts, but this one is really tough. Boise has a really beautiful running community and it turns out we have some mutual friends with Jenny. That's why we were surprised when we saw her son Blake's nomination for her come across the Christmas Wish team's desk.

We knew Jenny as an ultramarathoner who celebrated beating colon cancer by running 100 miles. She was declared cancer free years ago, but last winter she noticed that she was something just didn't seem right while she was running. She felt like she wasn't getting enough air into her lungs and asked her doctor about it. He dismissed it as asthma. Runners are incredibly in tune with their bodies and Jenny knew that it wasn't asthma.

When she was eventually to get a biopsy, she found out that the cancer was back except this time, it was Stage 4 terminal lung cancer that had metastasized from her first battle with cancer.

Jenny and Blake recently found out that the maintenance chemo treatments that she had been going through wasn't working and that her cancer was spreading. She's now on a more aggressive form of chemo every other week and it makes her really, really sick. Blake's doing school online and tries to take that week off work to help his mom.

With a terminal diagnosis, Blake wants to make sure that every big holiday the two of them get to spend together is special so we loaded up Jaci in the Treasure Valley Subaru Delivery Sleigh and delivered a surprise to her at work. (Click play to hear the surprise!)
