A LITE-FM Christmas Wish for Jamie

LITE-FM's Christmas Wish is back, thanks to our friends at Pioneer Federal Credit Union. 

Luke wrote to us about Jamie, who's been a friend for a long time. Their kids are best friends and Luke's become Jamie's person that she can go to talk about how hard things really are for this single mom. That's why Luke reached out to us, to see if we could help Jamie.

Jamie's rollercoaster of a year started just before Christmas 2020 when her landlord told her she had to move before her lease was up in the spring. It was a big shock for her and her two kids. Shortly after the move, she noticed that her four-year-old son's mental health had declined. He's been diagnosed with ADHD and they're going through the process to see if he's on the autism spectrum.

Getting those answers will open more opportunities for Jamie to find the best way to support her son, but until then money's extremely tight so finding places he can positively release his energy during cold winter months has been extremely difficult. It's an added challenge as the bills for rent, car payments and daycare pile up with no income coming in.

Jamie took a medical leave from work and thought she'd have some income coming in, but due to a hold-up in paperwork, she hasn't been paid in 12 weeks. It's been a lot and she's doing everything she can to be the best mom she can be, but it's been tough and she's heartbroken that this Christmas won't be what she hoped it would be for her little ones.

We shared her story with our friends at the Tomlinson South Meridian YMCA and they were very eager to help Jamie solve the problem of finding a safe, warm place for her kids to play and get the support they need! Click play below to heart just how special this gift was!
