Spend July 4 Exploring Idaho: Free Day Access to Idaho State Parks
You know, if you’re looking for an excuse to put down the phone, step away from the grill for a few hours, and actually enjoy one of the best things about living in Idaho… Governor Brad Little just gave us one.

Free Idaho State Park Admission on July 4, 2026
To celebrate America’s 250th anniversary, Idaho residents will get FREE day-use access to all Idaho State Parks on Saturday, July 4th!
How cool is that?

Idaho State Parks Offer Something for Everyone
We’ve got some of the most beautiful parks in the country right here in our backyard. Whether you’re into hiking, fishing, boating, wildlife watching, taking a picnic to the lake, or just finding a shady spot to relax with family and friends… this is a great chance to explore someplace new without paying the day-use fee.
Now, just a heads up: camping reservations and other services still cost extra, but getting into the parks for the day? That’s on the house.

Tips for Visiting Idaho State Parks This Independence Day
Because free admission is likely to draw bigger crowds, a little planning can go a long way.
Before you head out:
- Arrive early, especially at popular parks.
- Pack plenty of water, sunscreen, and snacks.
- Check park-specific information before you leave home.
- Follow Leave No Trace principles and recreate responsibly.
- Be respectful of wildlife and fellow visitors.
A little preparation helps ensure everyone has a safe and enjoyable holiday.

Make July 4 About More Than Fireworks
Don’t get me wrong, I love a good fireworks show. But some of my favorite Idaho memories have happened away from the crowds, just watching the sun rise over a lake, sharing a picnic with family, or discovering a trail I didn’t know existed.

So, mark it down now: July 4th, free admission for Idaho residents at all Idaho State Parks.
Because fireworks are great… but have you seen Idaho? We kind of hit the jackpot.
Happy early birthday, America… and I’ll see you outside!
