If you love hot cocoa and luxury homes, this is an opportunity that you CANNOT pass up during your next road trip to Northern Idaho.

Over the weekend, hubby and I did something that we, as self admitted workaholics, would typically never do. We burnt a vacation day and hit the road for Coeur d'Alene for a little rest and relaxation. The Coeur d'Alene Resort turned out to be the perfect place to unplug for a little bit.

While, we went into the weekend with no real game plan there was at least one thing that we wanted to try, one of Lake Coeur d'Alene' Cruise's "scenic hot cocoa cruises!" After all, it was affordable and took off from the dock right behind the resort.

Upon boarding, you walk past the for purchase hot cocoa bar. Kids can dress up their cocoa with fun toppings like sprinkles, whipped cream and even M&Ms. Adults, if you'd like to spike your hot cocoa, the boat has a full bar. We did exactly that! (If you appreciate a good peppermint hot cocoa, I highly recommend a shot of Rumple Minze in yours!)

After you have your beverage, you can grab a seat inside the ferry boat to stay warm or head up to the top deck to really take in the views. The 90 minute cruise sales around Lake Coeur d'Alene and treats you to some really spectacular views of not just Idaho's breathtaking mountain landscapes, but some equally beautiful luxury homes! Most of these are more easily reached by boat than road and that's why so many of them also have trams to take you up to them from the water!

Ironically, one of them that I snapped a photo of happens to be for sale. The nine bedroom, 10 bathroom estate will run you a cool $8.9 Million!

The cruise also takes you past the world famous "floating green" on the 14th hole of the resort's golf course! The island green is movable and typically plays 140-170 yards from the standard tee.

After the float green, you'll notice some of the "dining igloos" that are growing in popularity. Those are located at the resort's "Hot Winter Nights" heated infinity pool. If you're lucky enough to get a reservation there, the pool is accessed by limo vans!

If you can't get a reservation at the pool and one of its igloos, there are also igloos located back at the resort where you unload the boat. We were able to have a drink in one of them without a reservation prior to 3 p.m. when those with reservations started to arrive!

So, like I said...this hot cocoa cruise is a MUST. You get to see so much in just 90 minutes! Tickets are just $11.50 for kids and $16.50 for adults. You can check out more about them HERE.
