Barbecue lovers might agree that some sausage and brisket can be a godsend on a normal day, and now in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey that has even deeper meaning.

Operation BBQ Relief to the rescue, and one Boise restaurant needs our help with the effort.

Operation BBQ Relief started in 2011 after those awful tornadoes hit Joplin, Missouri, and it's been providing barbecue plates in big, national relief efforts since then.  Some of the best barbecue restaurants and competitive cooks in the country are involved, and one Boise restaurant is headed to Texas soon to be part of the Harvey relief effort.

KTVB talked with the owner of BBQ 4 Life, Brad Taylor, who said he's taking a truckload of fixins to Texas soon, and we can all drop off donations now if we want to be part of this yummy project.  BBQ 4 Life started a few years back as a food truck, so Brad has some good experience hauling ingredients and cooking on the fly.

Operation BBQ Relief teamed up with the Salvation Army, and the cooks are already set up in Texas and grilling up hot meals for those impacted by Harvey along the Texas Gulf Coast.  They ask that we don't all "self deploy," and to team up with organized efforts instead.

Or better yet, drop off some donations at BBQ 4 Life, and high five our own Brad Taylor for making that long trip to Texas to help a neighbor with some pulled pork and baby back ribs.
