A LITE-FM Christmas Wish for Rachel

LITE-FM's Christmas Wish is back, thanks to our friends at Pioneer Federal Credit Union. This year's 15th wish went to Rachel.

Wish #15 reunited us with a special elf. You may remember April from when she nominated Brenna and Eric for a Christmas Wish in 2017. Eric was battling a terminal form of cancer and she wanted to make his last Christmas with the family special.

This year she introduced us to Rachel. Rachel's family seems to be enduring an ongoing season of "when it rains, it pours." Her husband Jeremy is a stay at home dad, but not by choice. After many years of working full time, parts of his body started to quit on him and he's now on disability. When that happened, Rachel started taking classes online to get her degree and get a good job to provide for the family.

The couple also had to endure their 11 year-old daughter being rushed to the hospital in the middle of the night and leaving with a diabetes diagnosis which wildly changed their sixth grader's lifestyle. On top of the medical issues, they've had cars break down and things around the house break which has made finances really tight for a family with four kids.

April isn't able to help them out financially this year, but is so moved by Rachel's continuous positive attitude and grace in the face of her hardships that she reached out to people she knew could help bring a smile to her friend's face. (Hi! That's us!)

We loaded up Jeff in the Team Subaru of Nampa Ascent delivery sleigh to surprise Rachel before she took off for work. Check out the surprise in the video above! (Click the play button where you see the little birdies to hear it!)
