It's the tenth year for Blue Star Museums, and Boise has three that have signed on to give free admission to active-duty military and their families this summer.

The National Endowment for the Arts and Blue Star Families said about two thousand museums nationwide are signing on to give free admission to active-duty military personnel and their families between now and Labor Day, and six of those are in Idaho.

Three of the Blue Star Museums are in Boise, and those are:

Boise Art Museum

Idaho State Museum

Old Idaho Penitentiary

In Coeur d'Alene, the Museum of North Idaho is part of the Blue Star Program, along with the Museum of Idaho in Idaho Falls, and the Museum of Natural History in Pocatello.

There are participating museums in all 50 states and Washington, DC, so our military members in the Treasure Valley can find free admission just about anywhere they'll be traveling this summer.  Museums that are included highlight fine art, science, and history, and there are children’s museums, zoos, aquariums, gardens, and a lot more on the list too.

Military families can find the list of other participating museums at arts.gov/bluestarmuseums by state or by zip code.

Another way to create a memorable summer!
