2 Idaho Cities Named The “Best-Run Cities” in America
So, THIS is why people are flocking to the Treasure Valley!
Well, maybe.
It was recently reported that two towns in Idaho received some recognition for being among the top best-run cities in America. That has to count for something when people decide to move here, right?
How are these towns operating?
According to a report from WalletHub, two popular towns in the Treasure Valley top the list because their operating efficiency stood above the rest.
"We can learn how well city officials manage and spend public funds by comparing the quality of the services residents receive against the city’s total budget," they said in their study.
Those two towns? Boise and Nampa.
Boise came in third on the list while Nampa came in at number one, meaning both towns provide some of the best city services in the entire country. San Francisco, CA coming in last might surprise some and their score weighed heavily on their poor quality of roads.
According to WalletHub, Boise has the "fourth-lowest property crime rate and 10th-lowest violent crime rate in the country." Boise's hospital system also ranks 11th in the country while also having "the third-lowest long-term outstanding government debt per capita at $1,062."
Nampa's long-term debt outstanding per capita is just $564 and has the sixth-lowest property-crime rate to go along with the 22nd-lowest violent crime rate in the country. Nampa can also be proud of its median annual income growth as it's the highest in the country at 17% according to WalletHub.
Congrats to both Boise and Nampa... maybe Meridian can make the cut next time?
