Who knew there was a holiday to celebrate the most adorable flightless birds in the world?! January 20 is Penguin Awareness Day, so it only seems fitting to share this cool opportunity with you to celebrate!

Over the years, Zoo Boise has hosted several Paint with Penguin events where guests are invited to a very special evening at the Penguin Pavilion. During your two hour visit, you'll paint the background of your canvas while enjoying drinks and snacks. You'll also be delighted by a special keeper talk about the Magellanic penguins and a behind the scenes tour. After the tour, the penguins get to take a stroll around your artwork and add their own personal touch to you painting before you take it home.

The next Paint with Penguins event is scheduled for February 8, but unfortunately the 10 tickets available have already sold out. The good news is, if you're wanting to visit with the penguins you're not totally out of luck! As a special fundraiser for Zoo Boise, they're offering guests the opportunity to schedule a private party for up to 10 guests, provided the date and penguins are available.

Private parties cost $1,050 and if you can find 10 people who want to join you, that breaks down the equivalent of the $105 tickets they were offering for the February event! If you don't think you can round up 10 people, but are still interested in meeting the penguins you can find more details about how to reserve a place on the wait list HERE.

What's really cool about this opportunity is the fact that it's one of the only ways to see the penguins right now. Due to COVID-19 safety precautions some buildings, attractions and encounters are closed for guest, staff and animal safety. The Penguin Pavilion is one of those attractions not currently available to the public.

BTW, Jimmy and Rose welcomed a baby boy chick in May and we're sure he's absolutely adorable!
