When it's one of your main menu items, what better day to celebrate your grand opening than on National Pi(e) Day?

For those of you with a sharp eye, you may have noticed a sign for a new cafe called Kiwi Shake & Bake go up on 8th Street.  And you probably scratched your head a little bit, because hearing the words "Shake & Bake" either reminds you of Talladega Nights or how mom always breaded chicken for dinner when you were a kid.

If you're slightly scarred by how much of that you ate growing up, don't worry.  That's not what Kiwi Shake & Bake is serving up! The new bakery cafe specializes in the foods of New Zealand, nicknamed "kiwi food" and will celebrate their official grand opening on Thursday, March 14 starting at 12:30 p.m.

We couldn't think of a more perfect day than Pi(e) Day to introduce the concept to the Treasure Valley! Why? Because one of the highlights of their menu is a huge selection of meat pies like bacon and egg, chicken and cranberry, potato and leek, steak and cheese...and of course, potato top!

If meat pies aren't your thing, they have a selection of savory rolls, soups, cakes, ice cream and milkshakes on the menu as well! Kiwi Shake and Bake is a great place to grab a drink with the gals after work too! They have six wines and about a dozen beers (many brewed right here in the Treasure Valley) on tap.

Stop by and see them during their grand opening to try free samples of New Zealand food for yourself! They'll also have some drawings for prizes! Find them inside the Afton building at 611 S 8th Street.
