Who in the world would think "goat cheese and cherry" ice cream is a good idea?  Not Boise.  But we are getting some national attention for having a different crazy ice cream flavor, and this one is good.

Fox News came up with 13 of the craziest ice cream flavors across the country, and a Boise ice cream shop makes the list for having the 4th-craziest flavor.  And it may or may not involve potatoes.

Westside Drive Inn has all of those good juicy burgers on the menu, plus things like fried zucchini, dips, corn dogs, and pulled pork hoagies that some of us might wake up craving in the middle of the night.  But they're getting some love outside of the Treasure Valley for that Famous Ice Cream Potato.

Fox News says, "Ice cream doesn’t get much more Idahoan than this potato-shaped ice cream base topped with 'sour cream' (vanilla ice cream)."  It's vanilla ice cream covered in cocoa powder with whipped cream and some chocolate shavings. And it's a great way to get picky kids to eat a potato.

Other "crazy" ice cream flavors to make the Fox News list:

Goat Cheese with Red Cherries: Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams; multiple locations

Dill Pickle: Dakota Drug Co.; Stanley, North Dakota

Ghost Pepper Peppermint: Mallard Ice Cream; Bellingham, Washington

Sweet Avocado Cayenne: Rococo Creamery; three locations in Maine

Does anything on that list look good?  I think I'll stick with the spud.  It's a Boise tradition anyway.  Westside Drive-In has been a Boise fixture since 1957, serving up cones, banana splits, hot fudge sundaes, and that Westside Mudd Pie.

Here's the um, "scoop" if you wanna go try the Ice Cream Potato!  Again.
