We've got at least another month of the coldest winter weather in the Treasure Valley, and then we'll be out of the woods and it will start warming up.  And what about snowfall?

The truest weather predictions probably come from looking out the window each day, but it's kind of interesting to see what the experts think about what the rest of the winter might hold in terms of chilly temps and snowfall amounts.  The predictions may not stop us from planning a ski trip or anything, but knowing the wind chills are likely to come might help us brace for them.

The Farmer's Almanac says winter temperatures and precipitation will be above normal for the rest of the winter, and chances for the coldest weather will continue through early February.

The most snow will come in late January and again in mid- to late February, and in again early March. (So pretty much off and on through the winter, like you probably assumed because you've been through January and February in Idaho before.)    The average high temperature for January in Boise, by the way, is 33 degrees.

If you're planning an event this winter and you're hoping for mild weather, the best chances for above-average temperatures are the week of February 14th through 19th.  Colder weather is predicted before that, and snowstorms could come after, according to the Farmer's Almanac.  But if you're thinking of having a romantic outdoor wedding for Valentine's Day, you just might be able to pull it off.  Have some space heaters nearby just in case.

It should be in the 40s most of this week with lows a little above freezing.  The temperature seems to be irrelevant for those year-round-shorts-wearers, but for the rest of us, this will be another good week to layer up.  It's a good idea to keep up that routine for at least another month, and then bring on the jacket weather.
