Another Treasure Valley Treasure: Gateway Parks at Eagle Island
What a great weekend! It was one of those mixes of getting work done around the house, and doing some fun stuff too. One of the best moments? Tubing at Gateway Parks in Eagle.
Colton and I have typically done our tubing at Bogus Basin in years past, and that's always been an awesome experience. This weekend though, we had heard that the snowpack limitations had caused Bogus to take a momentary hiatus, so it was the perfect time for us to give Gateway Parks at Eagle Island State Park a try.
Cliff notes? It was a great few hours and a great weekend.
We started things Friday night grabbing dinner and a movie (and trying the new Mad Mac restaurant at Boise Spectrum which was also awesome). We then crossed the street and checked out the movie Ferdinand. A great message about being yourself, no matter what some might expect you to be interested in or wired to do.
That was a great impetus for some conversations as we took down our Christmas Tree, decorations, and outside lights on the house Saturday. We grilled burgers that night, and had a really great day.
Our agreement had been if we got all of our chores done at the house, got Christmas put away, and had good attitude and behavior this morning, we could go tubing. All was well, and we did.
I really have to give Gateway Parks credit for creating a great atmosphere and fun experience. They have 3 different tracks you can use, a magic carpet that takes you back up, and refreshments, bathrooms, and even a fire pit in use too.
My kiddo even took a few runs on his own - which even a year ago would likely not have happened - and I was really proud of him for taking it on.
We had a great time, and it was a great weekend. Now we have another tubing option, and I highly recommend it.
