A LITE-FM Christmas Wish for Elea

LITE-FM's Christmas Wish is back, thanks to our friends at Pioneer Federal Credit Union. This year's eighth wish went to Elea.

Elea originally reached out to us to nominate her mom for a Christmas Wish, but after reading the family's story we realized that Elea herself deserved a Christmas Wish too.

Elea's 35 year-old sister had been battling an illness for quite a while and experienced sudden cardiac arrest, earlier this year.  Elea (who was in her third trimester at the time) was the one who administered CPR for 20 minutes, but she couldn't bring her sister back. Elea's daughter, niece, nephew and mom watched her take her last breath in Elea's arms.

Her niece and nephew's fathers aren't part of their lives, so Elea and her daughter moved back in with her mom to help raise them. Shortly after they were granted legal guardianship, Elea's mom ended up in the hospital with severe pneumonia and she had to make the call to put her in a medically induced coma and on life support.  Luckily, after a few weeks she woke up and is still with the family this Christmas.

The family's pretty traumatized and is utilizing counseling and resources from the kids' schools as their grieving but Christmas time is already proving to be extremely difficult. When she reached out for a wish, Elea didn't ask for gifts or money.  She simply wanted to find a way for the family to try to build some good memories after their year of loss.
