A LITE-FM Christmas Wish for Alicia
LITE-FM's Christmas Wish is back, thanks to our friends at Pioneer Federal Credit Union.
Jillian wrote to us about her best friend Alicia, who's had an exceptionally tough year. Within a matter of months, she had to say goodbye to her stepdad, who passed away unexpectedly and her father, who passed away from heart failure last month.
The loss of her stepfather hit the family exceptionally hard, as he was the primary caregiver for Alicia's mom who's been in and out of the hospital herself multiple times in the past year. Before he passed, Alicia's stepdad thought his life insurance was set up but as it turns out, he'd let some payments lapse while trying to pay their bills and have money for his wife's medical care.
After he passed, the family found out there was no life insurance money to cover the cost of cremation and other final arrangements. Alicia used her own savings to help cover those and it's made money exceptionally tight for this single mom as we head into the holiday season.
Jill knew that between the heartache that Alicia and her 10-year-old twins are going through and finances being tight, the holidays are feeling more like a burden this year than a reason to celebrate. She asked us to put together something that would make Alicia smile and alleviate some of the stress she has as Christmas approaches
