Did you have plans to go to Yellowstone National Park, but now it’s closed? Try these 5 scenic and adventurous day trips instead, all of which are less than 3 hours from Boise.

Yesterday, June 13, 2022, the National Park Service published a press release that says, “All entrances to Yellowstone National Park CLOSED temporarily due to heavy flooding, rockslides, extremely hazardous conditions.” They continued by sharing a link to a Flickr video that you’re definitely going to want to check out. The video clearly shows the severity of the situation and the damage done in Yellowstone.

Don’t let this put a damper on your upcoming day trip or weekend plans, there are a lot of other really cool places to check out in the meantime.

Besides the few random rainstorms, it’s actually been really beautiful, sunny weather recently, and more and more people want to just get out and do things. I know for me personally, I really just want to be out and about with my dogs exploring the cool places that Idaho has to offer.

These places are perfect for driving, hiking, backcountry adventures, taking pictures, finding the best, most breathtaking views, exploring, and of course, creating new experiences and memories etc.

But first, here's an additional, kind of obvious day trip idea — this is also a really great time of year to visit the Shoshone Falls :)
