The race company behind the Idaho Wine Run closed abruptly earlier this week.

Since Final Kick Events announced that they, as a company, have reached the finish line, I've been filled with all kinds of mixed emotions.  In full disclosure, I've been friends with the family behind the company for a long time but I never knew the company was struggling as badly as it was described in their farewell blog post.  Most of the road races I've run over the past four years were produced by Final Kick, so I'll certainly miss them and clutch my giant Lake Lowell Marathon squirrel medal I got in April a little tighter.  I sincerely wish the family the best as they try to get back on their feet. They're an Idaho family just like yours and mine.

But I'm also heartbroken for the amount of people who'd already paid for the remaining Final Kick Events races that were on the calendar for 2018.  (Refunds are not available.) So many people who posted on the announcement post were moms who've been doing 5Ks to hold themselves accountable for staying fit enough to keep up with their kids or people who've lost incredible amounts of weight by getting out and running.  For these individuals the Idaho Wine Run, originally scheduled for September 8, wasn't just another 5K, 10K or Half Marathon...it was a goal they put a lot of hard work and sweat into to achieve.  They deserve a chance to throw their hands up in the air as they cross the finish line and if I could, I'd pay for all of them to join our St. Luke's FitOne team.

Apparently the folks at St. Luke's and I were on the same wavelength!  They're offering FREE entries into FitOne for the first 50 people who e-mail them confirmation that they had signed up for and paid for the Idaho Wine Run.  Confirmations can be e-mailed to fitoneinfo@slhs.org.

When I suggested St. Luke's FitOne as an alternative, some participants were hesitant because the race is so large and they've never done something that big.  If you sign up for the 107.9 LITE-FM Good as Gold team, I promise you that you have nothing to worry about. FitOne is literally THE BEST DAY in Downtown Boise and my second favorite holiday, right after Christmas! You'll have support from a huge group of our listeners, members of Team Run Boise and Camp Rainbow Gold supporters to get you across that finish line.  We're more than willing to help you navigate the waters and get you across that finish line!
