So Why All The Snow And Super Cold Temps?
We've certainly had a blast of cold and snow this winter. The last couple weeks have been unusual with higher than normal snow accumulation and colder than normal temperatures.
Why is that? Scientists, meteorologists, and other smart people seem to agree: La Niña.
The La Niña weather category means colder and wetter weather across the Pacific Northwest while providing the inverse to California and areas to the east of us.
We may not be done with things yet either. Typical La Niña systems (and the opposite El Niño) can last up to a year.
