Governor Otter has signed into law a bill allowing permitless carry inside city limits that will take effect July 1, 2016. It will allow Idahoans over the age of 21 to conceal-carry inside city limits.

It's not quite as groundbreaking as it sounds though, since it was already legal in most of the state (in most counties).  This action Otter and supporters say just unifies the policy across jurisdictions and avoids someone unknowingly violating the law inside city limits.

Opponents have expressed concern that along with the permitting process no longer being require, the required training component goes away as well.

It will not avoid the need to get a permit to travel outside of Idaho with your guns.
