A federal appeals court has struck down the gay marriage bans both here in Idaho and in Nevada.  If you have followed the developments in the debate over the legalization of gay marriage, this news represents a major shift in policy for our state.

Idaho's argument in the 9th circuit court was primarily based on the idea that lifting the prohibition against same-sex marriage would harm children raised in families with gay parents.

The ruling stated that there was no evidence that children of same-sex parents were being harmed.
