I can't pinpoint the moment that it happened, but I'm pretty sure it was shortly after I graduated from college and "summer break" didn't exist in my vocabulary anymore. Fall quickly became the few months of the year that I longed for.  Pumpkin spice lattes, apple cider, pretty leaves...does it get much better?

It sure doesn’t! But if you’re hoping to work those pretty leaves into your fall photos this year, you better get a move on it. According to SmokyMountains.com, the leaves here in our area may turn and drop more quickly than normal. Yup, even though the temperatures just won’t seem to cool down and actually let us enjoy fall! Here’s the fall foliage predictions for our area this year.

September 28 - October 4

Ada, Canyon, Elmore and Gem counties have trees proudly showing off near peak colors. That’s nearly two full weeks earlier than 2019.

October 5 - 11

Break out your cameras and take all of the selfies! The leaves in Ada, Canyon, Elmore and Gem counties have now reached peak color.

October 12 - 18

And just like that. It’s over. The leaves in our area are now past their peak, pretty colors.

October 19 - 26

That’s a wrap for the entire state. All the fall trees in Idaho are now past their peak colors.
