About five years ago, my kids begged me to go to an escape room. Being locked in a room for an hour with four teenagers didn't sound like a whole lot of fun, but I couldn't have been more wrong. The concept is that you're locked in a room with your team. The room is decorated in a theme, and based on that theme, you find clues to unlock the door to get out. Depending on the room, the clues can range from easy to hard. I went to the easiest room and couldn't crack the clues to escape. I don't know what that says about my kids and me.

Even though we didn't figure out how to escape in the 60 minutes, we had a great time and immediately looked for the next opportunity to go back and which room we wanted to conquer next.

Escape This Boise is a family-owned business in the Treasure Valley, and they are about to open a Santa's Workshop themed escape room. It's family-friendly, and I can't wait to see how they decorate. Escape Rooms aren't very big, so during a pandemic, it won't be possible to stay six feet apart, so Escape This stresses that it's vital that you only book with friends and family that you don't mind being up close and personal. They disinfect the rooms between each use to keep customers and employees safe.
