8.0 Earthquake Headed For Boise
Idaho gets small to medium earthquakes all the time. Those creep into our neighboring states as well like the 3.9 magnitude earthquake that recently hit outside of Salem, Oregon. According to KTVB the U.S. Geological Survey says this quake was a good 11 miles deep. This is the 2nd of two pretty good sized earthquakes in this area over the past few months. The first was a 4.0 in December.
Many residents in the surrounding area said it was hard and fast. It's one of those things that makes you wonder how bad this is going to get and then a sense of relief sets in after it stops. Damage report is good. As of now, no damage has been reported and all residents are safe with no injuries.
Very few Boise residents if any felt the earthquake since Salem is a good seven hours away but Seismologist say an 8.0 or larger earthquake should hit the Northwest sometime in the next three years and "The Big One" will most likely strike sometime within the next 50 years. Both of those will cause major damage and affect thousands if not more across the entire Northwest part of the country. If this quake hits a major city like Boise there will be mass destruction, thousands of lives lost, and a catastrophic fall out which will affect our economy, work, personal lives, and pretty much anything and everything we know of or come into contact with. Scientists continue to research and investigate how to best predict, prepare and react to major earthquakes. The following has vital information necessary to keep your family as safe and as prepared as you possibly can be.
