This. This is what dreams are made of.

You ever see those posts comparing what it's like to go our in your 20s vs going out in your 30s? Saturday night was a case study in "girls night in your 30s."  In my early 20s, I'd squeeze myself in to a questionably too short dress, heels and be totally amped to dive head first into round after round of shots at the loudest clubs in Downtown Boise. In my 30s, a sweater, flats and a hockey game sounded like the perfect Saturday night.

Fast forward to my girlfriends and I getting to CenturyLink Arena, only to find out the last Steelheads game of the season was completely sold out...unless we wanted the three of us to sit absolutely nowhere near each other.  Even though I was sick, I was committed to having a girls night out, so we opted to go drink beer at Old Chicago...and Amsterdam...and Hannah's, before deciding to call it a night just after midnight. Walking to the car, I was buzzed enough that Spacebar was glowing like a shiny object in front of my face and I blurted out "who wants to go play video games?!"

After playing a few games, I looked at my girlfriend and said "Wait a second, why are we paying for these games? I have PacMan and Galaga on the Nintendo 64 at home, plus there's no way those kids are ever going to let us play Mario Kart" as I motioned to the group of college kids playing what probably seemed like an ancient game system to them.

So we went home, hooked up my Nintendo 64 and I proceeded to smoke both of them round, after round, after round of Mario Kart until I was too tired to play anymore. Flash forward a few days later and one of those girlfriends told me about a Mario Kart tournament happening in Downtown Boise!

Fatty's Bar is hosting a Mario Kart 64 Tournament with a cash prize on April 24 starting at 9 p.m.  They want you to warm up your thumbs and get ready to dodge coconuts on DK's Jungle Parkway and adorable, but slippery penguins in Sherbet Land! Competitors will face off in a full cup in the single elimination tournament.  The top two finishers will go on to the next round and until they reach the Special Cup that culminates in a dash down Rainbow Road. The grand prize winner will win a still to be determined cash prize.  2nd and 3rd places take home bar tabs!

Fortunately for you, the tournament happens after my bedtime on a weeknight.  To be sharp for my show, I have to sit this one out! See? Your chances of winning just got that much better!
