There are so many flashing light sequences in the new Star Wars movie, that you might leave the theater with a headache, or worse.  Disney issued a warning about what to expect.

Disney says Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker contains several sequences with "imagery and sustained flashing lights that may affect those who are susceptible to photosensitive epilepsy or have other photosensitivities.”  The biggest risk is that the flashing lights could trigger a seizure, and they're issuing the warning out of "an abundance of caution."

Disney even contacted the Epilepsy Foundation, which says about 3.4 million Americans have epilepsy and about three percent have photosensitivity issues related to flashing light sequences.  The Epilepsy Foundation said those Star Wars fans can still go see the movie, but they should hide their eyes or look away during those scenes.

Do you think the warning will stop anyone from watching?  Nope!  Me neither.

In June 2018, Incredibles 2 issued a similar warning about its flashing light sequences.  I remember seeing the movie and feeling like I might have to fight off a headache if the strobe-light effect kept going, but I don't remember hearing any stories about people having issues beyond that.  Hopefully, the new Star Wars is issue-free too.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker be released next Friday, December 20.
