Nine victims, six of which were children, were rushed to local Boise hospitals Saturday evening with life-threatening injuries after an extreme stabbing incident off of State Street took place.
Suspect Timmy Earl Kinner was arrested at 8:50 p.m. Saturday, just four minutes after police were dispatched to a report of a stabbing incident in the affordable housing community of Wylie Street Station Apartments and in the parking lot.
According to Boise Police, 30-year-old Kinner was originally from Los Angeles and had been a temporary resident at the Wylie Street Station Apartments before being asked to leave on Friday. He is charged with 15 felonies: nine counts of aggravated battery and six counts of injury to a child. After one of the victims died on Monday, July 3rd after suscombing to injuries, he is now charged with murder as well.
Police raced to the scene, where the suspect fled north on State Street. Police were able to locate the male almost immediately and take him into custody at gunpoint. The suspect had discarded the knife used in the attack, but police were able to recover it quickly.
Boise Police Chief Bill Bones said in a news conference that investigators are currently trying to determine what the motive was for the attack. Bones did comment, however, that this was the worst crime the department has seen to date.
A vigil will take place for the stabbing victims at 6 p.m. Monday, July 2nd on the steps of the Boise City Hall. The community is encouraged to attend and show their support for those fighting for their lives.
