The Connecticut Supreme Court ruled a 17 year old has to take Chemotherapy, even though she doesn't want it.  Cassandra C. is fighting Hodgkin's Lymphoma.  Hodgkin's according to science is curable by using chemo about 85% of the time.

Cassandra, on the other hand wants to fight Hodgkin's by making the body strong. Her mom backs her 100% and feels it should be her choice.

Doctors, on the other hand, give her two years if she doesn't take the chemo. Cassandra doesn't want to kill her body and feels she is old enough to make her own choice.  The court decided against her, especially since she ran away from home....after her first two treatments. The chemo treatment for Hodgkin's is brutal and will make you sick, since it has to almost kill you to kill Hodgkin's.

I've refused Chemo for the very reasons she claims.  On the other hand, I've also done years of research on ways to help my body fight cancer.  What I do and take are very specific and it's designed to make me stronger. Doctors now agree with what and how I'm dealing with my cancer. They monitor my progress and are intrigued how I'm successful.

Maybe if Cassandra were to take in a treatment plan and discuss it with her doctors, they might change their minds, I doubt it, but that's the only possible way for her to not take chemo.
