"Blue Tuesday", has become the most exciting day of the week at Seattle children’s hospital. The halls are decked out in blue, and the patients are buzzing with excitement waiting for Russell Wilson to make his weekly visits.
Carly Young, director of development for Seattle Children's Hospital Foundation, said Wilson has visited the hospital every Tuesday for almost three years. He surprised the staff by even showing up the Tuesday after the NFC Championship win over the Green Bay Packers. “There’s more to life than football and winning games. Every single time I’m at the hospital and I get a kid to smile or help a parent relax, it opens up my heart and reminds me how much I receive by being all in at Seattle Children’s.” Russell posted in his January 20th blog.

In an interview by Brendan Prunty from NJ News, Dave Quick, father of newborn twins Harrison and Franklin, discussed his first experience with Russell after his son Franklin’s first open heart surgery. “He came in like a friend,” Quick said. “He comes walking over and gives me a big hug. Then he talks with us for a few minutes, talked about our boys — It was just amazing.” Russell ended his visit by asking to pray over Franklin, and asked God to watch over the Quick family. Dave Quick states, “Whatever you read about this superhero, so to speak, it’s true,” Dave Quick isn't the only parent to note how extraordinary Wilson is, in fact all families are touched by the quarterbacks sincerity in his visits.

However, what is most important about these visits, is the effect it has on the children. Seattle Children’s hospital is forever grateful for their experience with the Seahawk’s quarterback, and the Children’s Miracle Network is proud to have such a strong figure supporting one of their many local hospitals.

Since 1983, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals has raised more than $5 billion for 170 children’s hospitals across the United States and Canada. These donations have gone to support research and training, purchase equipment, and pay for uncompensated care, all to save and improve the lives of as many children as possible. Right now there’s a Children’s Miracle Network Hospital working to save the lives of kids in your community. In fact, 62 children enter a Children’s Miracle Network Hospital for treatment every minute. Some are battling cancer. Some are suffering from a traumatic injury. Others require constant care because they were born too early, or with a genetic disease. Regardless of why these kids are there, Children’s Miracle Network is there to help.

Although most of us aren’t a famous role model, like Russell Wilson, we all have the capabilities to help. Whether it’s donating your time or your effort, there are local hospitals in your area that need you to be a hero. Lite FM and the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, benefiting St Luke’s Children’s Hospital, are asking you to help create miracles. Your donations to the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals will improve the lives of patients and their families at St Luke’s Children’s Hospital.
