A home is probably the most expensive thing we'll buy in our lifetime, and if we're gonna bite the bullet, Boise is a great place to do it. Our very own Treasure Valley has been named one of the top places in the country for first-time home buyers.

To come up with the Ten Best Cities for First Time Homebuyers, Wallethub looked at cities of all different sizes, and considered things like market attractiveness, affordability and quality of life. Then they crunched numbers on property taxes and looked into property crime rates too.  Overall, Boise ranked #8 in the country, as one of the best cities for first-time home buyers.

The Ten Best:

1. McKinney, Texas
2. Frisco, Texas
3. Allen, Texas
4. Cary, NC
5. Norman, Okla.
6. Lincoln, Neb.
7. Richardson, Texas
8. Boise, Idaho
9. Thornton, Colo.
10. Murfreesboro, Tenn.

All of those Texas towns are suburbs of Dallas.  Thornton, Colorado is just outside of Denver.  So Boise doesn't need to be near a huge metro area apparently, and does just fine on its own without riding other urban coattails. That's pretty cool.  We're strong and independent.

We've always known we've got plenty to do here, and that the recreational opportunities help fuel quality-of-life rankings.  Add housing affordability, and it's more proof that Boise is a great place to live.

Oh, and thanks to all of the talented creatives here that work in interior design, remodeling, and home improvement to keep our houses looking good.  Home ownership is fun, and all of these things come together to make it a really good investment too.
