Boise Author May Get His Own Netflix Series

The book is a Pulitzer Prize winner, a National Book Award finalist, and it spent over two and a half years on the New York Times bestseller list.  If that's not enough, it looks like the Boise author has a Netflix series in the works too.

Anthony Doerr's book called All The Light We Cannot See is a New York Times bestseller about a blind French girl and a German boy whose paths cross during the World War II era.

Marie-Laure and her father flee when the Nazis occupy the area of Paris where they live, and they retreat to safety in another part of France.  And their paths cross with Werner Pfennig, who is an orphan who grows up in Germany and becomes an expert at tinkering with radios and signals that might help track down the resistance.  That's according to Amazon, which also says, "Doerr illuminates the ways, against all odds, people try to be good to one another."

The book won a Pulitzer Prize in 2015, the Andrew Carnegie Medal for Excellence in Fiction in 2015, and it spent 130 consecutive weeks on the New York Times bestseller list.

After the numerous awards, Deadline reports the book could be made into a limited Netflix series.  There's no writer for the project yet, but the film rights have been purchased and executive producers have been assigned so it sounds like it's a green light to eventually bring the story to the small screen.

The book is out in hardcover, paperback, and on Kindle if you haven't read it and want to catch up before the story hits your TV.
