Bogus Basin has been putting a lot of time and energy into making itself a year-round resort, and the new mountain coaster is expected to be a fun and exciting new draw when it opens.

But when exactly that happens is still up in the air.

The resort has pumped over $4 million into improvements and attractions this year like the bike park, tubing area, and the much-anticipated mountain coaster.  The original plan was to open the new coaster August 1st, then the target date was pushed out to late August and then September.  Now the word is, "sometime this fall," according to the Idaho Statesman.

There's other fun to be had at Bogus Basin while we wait, including a 32-foot climbing wall, trampoline bungee jump, improved hiking and biking areas, and new patio and landscaping around the Simplot Lodge.  And they're adding an aerial adventure ropes course in 2018.  There are also plans for a a new high-speed chairlift, beginner ski area and other lodge renovations.

Once the gravity-driven mountain coaster does open, it will stay open through the fall and through the ski season too, so there will be plenty of time to check it out.  And in the middle of winter when it's 20 degrees and you have coaster wind in your face, it could be even more exhilarating!  So we'll wait.  And we'll keep you updated.
