Bishop Kelly Students Are Helping the Homeless

A student group at Bishop Kelly has been supporting a local homeless shelter, and just presented a check to the shelter for $10,000!  How did they do it?

The group called PATHS (Program Aiding the Homeless Scholar) has been supporting Interfaith Sanctuary with volunteer hours, service learning projects and fundraising for the past year, according to Interfaith Sanctuary Public Relations director, April Neale.

The $10,000 check is part of grant funds received by the student group for the work they do, and that amount was presented to co-executive directors Dan Ault and Jodi Peterson at Interfaith Sanctuary homeless shelter on River Street in Boise last week.

The money will help build a kids' playground area at the shelter.  Neale says a non-profit annual event "Idaho Gives" day helped raise another $20,000 to finish the protected children's playground, which will be attached to the existing structure and have a basketball hoop, arts & crafts table, tether ball, hop Scotch, 4 square, and more.

It's great to see kids helping kids, and the PATHS group says it helps underprivileged kids all over the Treasure Valley with resources to learn, participate, and enjoy school in order to stay on the path to success .  Obviously. Nice work, Bishop Kelly!
