And the 2020 Mom’s Next Move Grand Prize Winner Is…
After reading some amazing entries, the selection committee at CWI has chosen the grand prize winner of this year's "Mom Next Move" scholarship contest!
I'll be honest, Audrey, Jessica and the rest of the selection committee at the College of Western Idaho have one of the most difficult jobs in the world when it comes to selecting the winner of a full year's scholarship. Every single one of our entrants were incredibly deserving of the opportunity to pursue their dreams by going back to school.
That's why this year in addition to awarding one grand prize winner a full year's scholarship, the selection committee is also extending a $500 scholarship to five runners-up!
Without further ado, it's my pleasure to introduce you to this year's grand prize winner, Rebecca Sharp! When we opened submissions, Rebecca really struggled making the decision over whether or not to throw her hat into the ring because she'd already achieved a degree. However, things didn't really play out the way she and her husband thought they would and there haven't been too many opportunities to put that first degree to use to help support the family.
While they've been able to support their four children, the couple doesn't have much saved for retirement. They sat down and determined now's the right time for Rebecca to go back to school, even if finances for the family are even tighter than normal due to the coronavirus pandemic. Her dream is to become a Certified Nurse Midwife and be a source of light for both moms and babies starting with childbirth. It's a big leap of faith and we'll let Rebecca tell the rest of the story from here!
