It's safe to say that Idaho is launching into a Summer mode as if we're trying to make up for the lost time. Maybe we are.

The Boise River is open for business this week and gets ready for a packed scene. This is just one of many things like Roaring Springs, Lucky Peak Lake, 4th of July in McCall and the list goes on. I found something you might love that takes half your day and is free, Discovery Park in Meridian.

Why Discovery Park Is Every Mother's Paradise

That might be extreme, but it's simple. Discovery Park is built over 27 acres that keep everything you need in one space. Mom could do work by sitting on a bench and still keep an eye on the kids.

Discovery Park offers fun for each age group and even those tiny ones that feel left out. You have full bathrooms for families, covered playground areas for shade, splash pads for cooling off, and the largest sandbox I've ever seen. Plus, you learn about Idaho at every corner.

Rent a Shelter for Barbecue or Party

You can also rent an area for 4 hours to cook, celebrate and host your own party. Have you been to some places that cost a paycheck for some pizza and drinks? You could get a space for $90 - $125 for four hours. That's a win and all the fun is built in. My son loved the climbing and slides. My daughter is 2 years old and wouldn't leave the sandbox.

Discovery Park is located:

2121 E. Lake Hazel Road in Meridian (between Locust Grove & Eagle Roads)
