It may have sounded like trash talk when Boise State womens's basketball coach Gordy Presnell told the media he didn't know if Destiny Slocum knew where Boise State was but at about the same time in Corvallis, Slocum was saying pretty much the same thing, that BSU was never an option, it was just that home town school.

Slocum was all everything at Mountain View High in Meridian and Boise State wanted nothing more than to have her become a Bronco. So much so they started offering her a scholarship as a high school freshman and sophomore.

Slocum wasn't interested, after all Boise State was home town Boise State and remember, this was before the Broncos went on a roll advancing to the NCAA Tournament almost on a yearly basis.

Instead Slocum signed with Maryland and was named the freshman of the year in the Pac-10. After one year with the Terp's Slocum transferred to Oregon State and after sitting out a season the red shirt sophomore was named first team All Pac-12. The Beavers spending most of the season in the AP Top 10.

The NCAA selection committee has now brought Boise State and Slocum together on the same court Saturday at 3:30 p.m, just in different uniforms.

Oregon State is a 4-seed and Boise State a 13 and that of itself is a bone of contention with Boise State.

Also in Corvallis is Arkansas-Little Rock the 12th seed. They will play Gonzaga.

In a quick comparison, BSU 28-4, ALR 21-10. BSU's RPI rating is 39, ARL is 61 and higher is not better. So tell me, how do they get a better seed?

Nor did the NCAA do either Oregon State or Boise State any favors by sticking them in the Albany Region where Louisville and UCONN are lurking.

Ironically Louisville ousted both BSU and the Beavers from last years NCAA Tournament beating the Broncos 74-42 in the first round and Oregon State 76-43 in the Elite-8.

Hard not to notice the similarity in finals. Boise State is 0-6 in NCAA Tournament play, how ironic if the home-town school could get tournament win no.1 against the home town star.
