It's that time of year again when kitchens across the Gem State are filled with candy bowls. Just making it from the front door to the living room without reaching for a sour, chocolatey, sweet, or gummy treat is harder than at any other time of year.

There's no way to avoid candy right now. My wife keeps buying it, my son keeps bringing it home, and I can't help but indulge when I walk past the office treat bowl. Candy is everywhere.

Halloween is more than three weeks away, and I've already eaten enough mini Twix and mini Butterfinger bars than I normally do in the entire month of October, and it's not even close; I am anticipating massive withdrawal in November.

New Survey Identifies Idaho's Biggest Halloween Candy Addiction

In our household, Skittles, Butterfinger, Starbursts, Twix, Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, and Laffy Taffy are the big problems this October. It's an awful time of year for people trying to take care of their bodies. It just gets worse in late November and December when we toss turkey and gravy and every pie under the sun into the mix.

According to a brand new survey from the fine folks at Instacart (via All Recipes), Idaho's favorite Halloween candy for 2026 is Peanut M&Ms, based on sales data. This isn't bad, considering Montana, Washington State, and Oregon are apparently big on Hi-Chews.
