Former Idaho Teacher Sentenced to Prison for Sexual Battery
Living in the Treasure Valley often feels like a luxury. People that live here are what make the area great and the community so wonderful. It's obvious that we look out for one another and very rarely do we see significant crime in these parts.
When there is crime--our local authorities shut it down. That is exactly what has come to fruition today, as local police and prosecutors are able to share with the community that one guy is going to be behind bars for a while, keeping the community safe.
35-year-old Juvent Josue Ramirez has been sentenced to 14 years in an Idaho prison--with three years fixed--for sexually abusing a minor student while he was working as a teacher.
The incident happened in in Wilder, where the convicted sexual abuser was working as a business teacher. According to reports, Ramirez was grooming and manipulating a female student--while making inappropriate sexual comments, physical advances, and surveillance footage was used as evidence.
In a statement released by Canyon County Prosecuting Attorney Chris Boyd after sentencing, Boyd shared that the office is committed to community safety:
It is difficult to imagine more predatory behavior than a teacher taking advantage of a student. Our office remains committed to protecting children and pursuing justice for victims of sexual abuse, and we appreciate the diligent efforts of the Wilder Police Department in bringing this defendant to justice.
