It has been a YEAR for Boise State basketball and while the season is winding down, now more than ever, the team could use its fans to back it up.

The season started off with a bang--but not necessarily a great one. The Broncos hosted a Division II program from Hawaii that plays out of a strip mall and lost. With high hopes for the season, a season opening loss that brutal really heart the Broncos' stock out of the gate.

There have been 'season ups', such as the Broncos knocking off a difficult and well-known St. Mary's team in Idaho Falls. And plenty of downs, such as getting beat at home by Utah State--there the Aggies had, arguably, a stronger fan base that our own Broncos at home.

Now, one shot at March Madness remains: winning the Mountain West Conference which would guarantee the Broncos a birth.

We've been following the team all season and fans have been along for the ride. It's clear--Idaho wants some representation in the big dance!

An unlikely representative? Totally out of left field?? The Idaho Vandals.

A team that has been on NOBODY'S radar this season as a March Madness contender now has a shot to do what feels like a distant dream for the Broncos: get a birth into the bracket.

Their route? Winning the Big Sky tournament and they have already made it as far as the championship game!

Watch out, March! The women from the University of Idaho have already secured their birth!

The men now have to get past the University of Montana, tonight, March 11th. Win? They advance--and what a shock that would be.

Boise State begins their conference tournament tonight and that auto bid is FOUR wins away.

Boise State's Most Underappreciated Star

Boise State seems to mean "football" for most, right? On a national stage, after all, it's the blue turf and the success that the Broncos have had on it that made the university a household name. What happens on the hardwood, however, is far from appreciated at the level that it should be. Leon Rice came to Boise State as a blessing from one of the most powerful basketball programs in the nation: Gonzaga University. Now, the winningest basketball coach in the history of the school seems to take immediate heat if the Broncos aren't in the Final Four. Spoiled by wins on the football field, fans seem to expect the same of the basketball program but when the investment in basketball is so much less than football--can you really have these types of expectations!?
