Ada County Sheriff’s Office Shows Love To Idaho’s Unsung Heroes
A bad day at work can look different for everyone, right? It all depends on what you do for a living. For some, it's getting the call to come in on their one weekend off. For others, it might be finding out you have coworkers conspiring to hurt your performance.
These things happen to anyone and everyone, but one profession might change the way you look at your bad days and have you saying, "It could always be worse!"
Ada County Sheriff's Office Salutes Recruits Doing The Dirty Work
As the old saying goes: "It's a dirty job, but someone has to do it!"
The Ada County Sheriff's Office echoed that saying in a recent post acknowledging the brave souls behind K9 training.
"A key part of our Ada County Sheriff K9 program is making sure our dogs get realistic, hands-on practice—and that starts with well-trained decoys," the Ada County Sheriff's Office said in their post.

"Last week, our newest decoy recruits—two detention deputies and one patrol deputy—completed a three-day training course."
Shout out to the recruits for stepping up as decoys. Can you imagine how terrifying that would be for an average person to voluntarily get bitten and taken down by a K9? Sure, they're wearing padding, but I'd imagine there's still some pain associated with the force of a K9 bite.
What It Takes To Prepare A K9 Unit For Duty
Naturally, most of us imagine the horror that comes with being attacked by a K9, even if it's for practice. But the brave people of our law enforcement know that it goes beyond that.
"Being a decoy takes more than just wearing protective gear -- a good decoy learns how to read a dog’s body language, adjust for different drive levels, and provide consistent feedback that helps the K9 grow in skill and confidence," ACSO said in their post.
"It’s crucial for encouraging proper bite technique, reducing the risk of injury, and avoiding confusion in high-stress situations."
It's awesome to see ACSO shout out those brave recruits who stepped up for a good cause, and hopefully, their willingness to step up will pay off in their long careers down the road.
