2020's been craze balls. Our cat has provided so many needed smiles and moments of levity just by being himself. We couldn't imagine going through this year without him around and I promise that if you adopt a cute kitty into your home, it will raise your spirits too!

The Idaho Humane Society has received a No-Kill Excellence Grant from the Rachel Ray Foundation that will allow them to adopt our more than 20 cats with the adoption fee waived. Their free adoption event will take place on Saturday, October 24 at their Bird Street Adoption Center. Ahead of the event, they plan to introduce kitties who meet the grant's criteria.

In addition to their free adoption event, IHS helped alter 20 cats that will be part of Simply Cats "Free Fridays" leading up to their own event in connection with the statewide Adoptathon on the 24th.

As someone who wanted a cat my entire childhood but didn't have Kota enter my life until I was 23, I'm one to rave about how rewarding cat ownership is. I also want to remind you that a FREE cat is a lifelong investment, so if you're taking advantage of this offer PLEASE be prepared to make them your fur-ever friend.

Dakota entered my life as a free kitten. I didn't blink buying him food, toys and supplies over the past 9 years but it wasn't until last year that he earned the title "the most expensive free cat ever" from my husband. Kota ended up developing a blocked urinary tract that resulted in a three day ICU stay at West Vet. Our bills for his stay and follow-up care tallied over $3,000.

He was only 7 years old at the time. The loving staff at West Vet knew they could pull him through and give us many years together. I regret nothing about telling them to move forward with a treatment plan. The camera roll full of silly pictures I have of him trying to figure out why we were ALWAYS around during the first week of the Idaho "Stay Home" order is one of the only memories from this year that I'll actually cherish.

FYI, the cool cat guarding the Christmas beer is Kota. You can't adopt him, but I hope you find a kitty that's even half as cool as he is!
