City of Boise Extends Summer Season at Area Pools
It's kind of ironic that August is good at two things in Boise: roasting us with triple digit temperatures and closing the city pools as soon as the school year starts.
Unfortunately, Mother Nature doesn't recognize "Back to School" as a reason to drop temperatures down to a comfortable 60º. During the first few weeks of the school year, it's still silly hot. Closing the pools mid-August doesn't leave families living in a neighborhood or apartment complex without a community pool for its residents many options for cooling down in the water before dinner and homework.
The City of Boise took that feedback from residents to heart and that's why they've decided to extend the season at two of their municipal pools: Ivywild and Borah!
Borah will extend it's season through Friday, August 30th with adjusted hours beginning on Monday, August 19. It will be available for open swim from 3-6 p.m. daily. Lap swim will be held twice a day from 1-3 p.m. and 6-7 p.m.
Ivywild will stay open through Labor Day on Monday, September 2. The adjusted hour for Ivywild will be 4-7 p.m for open swim and 10 a.m.-12 p.m. for lap swim and preschool swim on weekdays. The hours for weekends (and the Labor Day holiday) kick in August 24 and will be 1:30-5:30 p.m. for open swim and 12-1:30 p.m. for lap swim.
Other city pools will conclude their seasons as originally planned:
- South: Closes August 10
- Fairmont: Closes August 11
- Lowell: Closes August 11
- Natatorium and Hydrotube: Closes August 18
