When the Boise School District canceled classes on March 16, they had no idea that it would be six long months before students would sit in desks again.

Central District Health recently moved the Boise School District into the "yellow category" which allows the district to move forward with a phased re-opening plan. Tomorrow is the first day of that plan where kids in Pre-K through 2nd grade will be physically in the classroom.

To celebrate, the staff at Hidden Springs Elementary School put together a parody of the popular Frozen song "For the First Time in Forever" to show their students how happy they were to finally have them in the school building again! The lyrics for the parody were written by fifth grade teacher, Krista Borjian and was performed by music teacher, Jenna Henscheid. The duo enlisted their fellow teachers to do some princess level acting in the music video and we think they knocked it out of the park!

Under the current phased re-opening plan, Pre-K through 2nd grade will do three days of virtual learning and two days of in person learning a week. The district hopes to add grades 3-6 into the same schedule starting October 9 and all students by October 19.

If COVID trends continue to decrease they could have all students back in traditional classrooms five days a week starting November 9.
